Today’s generation has swiftly transitioned from the traditional cable TV watching to online streaming services such as Netflix, YouTube, Hotstar etc.
My TV is old tho.The TV watching industry has been slowly evolving through phases. Whereas my Roku has just a list of all the apps that I just pick and play. The UI content on Chromecast seems more in your face with Shows and Movies suggestions and also The Apps library is just a small section of the Home Page. Whereas Chromecast tries to be modern with a Home Page that lists all the Shows/Movies that come from the Apps. I personally think Rokus UI is more simpler and straight forward like a Phone.

I have 3 Rokus and 2 Chromecasts (with Google TV).
Performance is pretty good across the board, although the Roku Ultra definitely runs smoother in my testing than any of the other devices (it's also the most expensive in the comparison here.) There are nuances and differences in the platforms and devices but overall, they run the same apps, and mostly do the same things. Really depends on personal preference like most everything else.Įnd of the day, it mostly comes down to personal preferences. But again, not necessarily a big deal, or even something people might want. It is better integrated on CCWGtv devices. but if you need that feature specifically it is definitely an area where the Google-based stuff excels (as you would expect.) Also for YouTube and YouTube TV specific integrations, as you would also expect. Personally, I rarely use it, so it's not high on my list. The interface is dated and looks bland to me but people seem to grasp the home page design with the app tiles intuitively and it has a "it just works" that mostly.well, just works.Ĭhromecast is a much easier/nicer experience if the person needs the "Cast" functionality or uses it all the time. the Roku is definitely smoother and much easier to navigate and comprehend for "normal" folks in my estimation. all of them do the same stuff, but there are key differences. set up and spent time with many Roku devices (mix of older ones from 2016-2017 era and brand new models) and the latest CCWGtv as well as the Onn 4K unit. Just had a real-world demo of this in last week.
