PvP already feels pretty rough on a fresh 110 just from the gap between a player with and without all 3 golden traits and a full set of pvp talents.
Just the paragon talents alone will be a 14.5% increase in power haha and then the gear gives you a solid. Just think of the power gap between a geared (880) player with 54 traits and a fresh level with maybe 11-14. AK rank 20? That weapon grind is much more taxing on a player than spending a few hours in BGs for a full set of competitive level gear ever was and the disparity is much greater. Grinding a weapon to cap takes an eternity even with AK25, but imagine if you are trying this on a fresh leveled toon? You will be what. Hell, I feel comfortable making the claim that this is far worse. this change completely negates the "no pvp gear because we want a fair playing field" mentality that they took going into Legion. So yes, even though certain specific specs kind of got shafted, I never felt like certain classes were just directly better than another back then compared to how I feel they are now.įor real. As I said above, that never happened because the discussion that would have to happen is: "Does this other class actually work better with mage/priest than rogue does?"
No one ever used to say: "Let's swap the rogue in our RMP because this other class is better". So even if these classes are actually pretty close, because they are so directly interchangeable, it makes it really obvious which ones are better or not. Better Cc, better throughput, the same defensive dispel, the same offensive dispel. I could even go further and say why would I ever even play MMP (monk/mage/priest) when I could just swap the priest for a resto shaman who once again, just does everything better. but a monk just straight up has more mobility, better cc, better survability and more damage, and doesn't give up anything in comparison. Why would I EVER play RMP when I could just swap the rogue for a monk? Any melee class could fill that role, because they all have lockdown. This has completely removed the niches that the classes could fill, which makes it very easy to directly compare classes to one another. Every class has a stun, no class is really any more kite-able than another, they all have defensives, yadda yadda yadda. Now though, the classes are so interchangeable. What this meant was that as long as RMP was strong as a comp, it didn't even matter if rogues or warriors were better or worse than each other, because the R in RMP wouldn't be changing. Even if you could make an argument that rogue was "better" than warriors, the classes still weren't interchangeable. The point I'm getting at, is that they had their niches. (same could be said when comparing mages and warlocks). but if you had a lock and druid to play with, then warrior was definitely the better option as WLD > RLD. Rogue was obviously the better class if you were playing RMP. what would your answer be? I think if I was asked that, I couldn't actually say. If I asked you what was the better melee class in TBC. BUT because classes actually had some uniqueness to them, they weren't so interchangeable. Now to get this out of the way, yes not every single spec in BC was balanced. I did too, and I see what you're getting at, but let me explain where I'm coming from and I think you'll agree.
